A documentary capturing the struggles and successes of the remote community of Berens River, Manitoba; where the local school only goes up to grade 9. Every year parents must face the harsh reality of sending their children away from home to complete their high school education. Children as young as fourteen must contend with the challenge of living in a whole new world in the big city and their struggles with homesickness, racism, street violence, and culture shock. This documentary features their stories, fears, challenges and the support they get from their families, band council, education services staff and the local education committee; ultimately their success!
